US Elections

I was originally a supporter of John McCain for his experiences and his caliber. On the other hand, I have reservations towards Barack Obama because of his lack of demonstrated experience in forgein policies and domestic issues. However, I am sure that many Republican supporters are beginning to doubt and change their views after knowing more abou the Republican vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin. I am not saying that John McCain's leadership is not as good as Obama's, but his choice of partner rasises serious concerns about his judgements.

The latest news development has put Lain's personal integrity under scrutiny. She has become John McCain's biggest laibility rather than his asset. Palin lacks experience and substance as well. Therefore, John McCain choice of people has really made me think twice whether he can be a wise leader.

Sarah Palin is currently under investigation by the state legislature for possible abuse of power surrounding the dismissal of the commissioner for public safety. Morever, she is also a hypocrite. She stood before the Americans and professed to be a Christian while she dished out negative and racial comments about another perseon. Futhermore, she did not even have a passport. This is really important because this shows that her interactions and understanding of other countires are very inadequate. This depiects her inability to make wise decisions due to her limited exposure. These conclude that Sarah Palin cannot bring forth a certainty of security and hopes for America. Imagine if John McCain does become elected but passes away during his term. What do you think America will be like if Sarah Palin succeeds to become the president of the United States?

Abuse of Legal Power

Just a moment ago, i read about an article of a chinese man, Yang Jia, who was convicted of murder after he stormed into a Shanghai police station on July 1st. He was wrongfully detained last year on suspicion of stealing a bicycle, and was sentenced to death for killing six policemen in the attack, which left four other people with serious injuries. At first, I found this guy unforgiving for what he had done to six other policemen, but as i read more about the incident on the Internet, I found out that he was actually a victim as well. Yang Jia was actually severly abused when the police were interrogating him, and this was the trigger to his mass murder. However, there was no mention of the police harassment during the trial.

I am not saying that Yang Jia is not guilty for the crime. The key issue is that each person deserves a fair and open trial for his crime. In this case, there is clearly an abuse of China's legal power, but there is nothing that we could do about it. I think that his case has not been dealt in an open fair way. The Shanghai authority failed to provide a fair opportunity for Yang Jia. I believe that this type of case happens in many countries, and most of them are still covered away from the open media. This does not mean that they do not exist. It is really frustrating to se that in our society today, the abuse of legal power still lives. This makes me wonder if justice really exists.
